Bhubaneswar: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for recalling contributions of former Odisha chief minister Biju Patnaik during his address to the Indonesian Parliament, saying the reference had brought pride to both Odisha and the country.Pradhan said Modi, during his visit to Indonesia, honoured Biju Patnaik’s legacy by highlighting his role in Indonesia’s struggle for independence. “Yesterday, during his visit to Indonesia, when the Prime Minister addressed the Indonesian Parliament, he brought pride to both Odisha and India by recalling contributions of late Biju Patnaik. He played a significant role in Indonesia’s struggle for independence,” Pradhan said.Pradhan said the Prime Minister’s acknowledgement of Biju Patnaik’s role during his address to the Indonesian Parliament was a fitting tribute to the former Odisha leader and had further enhanced India’s prestige globally.
