Vehicle inspection drive targeted overloaded vehicles and those parked illegally or haphazardly on roads

Dhanbad: The Dhanbad district transport department has seized two vehicles and issued challans, amounting to Rs 13.70 lakh, to 35 vehicles as part of a vehicle inspection drive launched this weekend to improve road safety.Led by district transport officer (DTO) Diwakar C. Dwivedi, the drive targeted overloaded vehicles and those parked illegally or haphazardly on roads.“Two vehicles were seized under the Motor Vehicles Act after serious irregularities were found. One was handed over to Baliyapur police station and the other to Barwadda police station for further action, Dwivedi added.Deputy commissioner Aditya Ranjan said, “The drive is part of the district administration’s efforts to streamline traffic management and prevent accidents linked to unsafe transport practices. Overloading affects vehicle stability and increases the chances of accidents, while unauthorised roadside parking disrupts traffic flow and may delay emergency services.”
