Dhanbad: A day after a headless body was recovered in a forest located on the fringes of Dhangi village under the Baliapur police station limits on Friday morning, it has been identified as that of Poonam Kumari (26) of Rajganj village in Dhanbad. Poonam’s husband, Rishi Kumar of the same village, and two others have been detained for questioning, police said.Later in the day on Friday, the severed head was recovered some distance away from the body. Incense sticks and other items used in religious rituals besides a QR code were found at the site, police added.Sindri DSP Prakash Chandra Mahto said, “The recovery of ritual materials has prompted police to examine the possibility of human sacrifice, though the motive is yet to be established. We are investigating every possible angle and the case will be solved soon. Police are interrogating three persons, examining phone records, Poonam’s recent movements, and the circumstances in which she went missing three days ago.”Poonam and Rishi had a love marriage four months ago that their families initially opposed. The couple later began living in a rented house in Karmatand under Baliapur police station limits, police added.
