Dhanbad: Local MLA Raj Sinha has given BCCL management three days to expedite repairs on the dilapidated Kenduadih–Rajput Basti main road, a key link between Dhanbad and Bokaro districts.In a letter to BCCL, Sinha expressed displeasure over the slow pace of work, saying the damaged stretch had caused severe inconvenience to commuters, schoolchildren, pedestrians, traders and vehicle operators.He said repair work began following public protests and repeated pressure, but the road was dug up and left incomplete. “Nearly a month later, there had been no significant progress,” he said.“With Durga Puja and other major festivals approaching, leaving the important route in such a condition was causing serious hardship to residents,” Sinha said.“BCCL management must stop playing with public sentiment. People need work on the ground, not assurances,” he added.The BJP MLA said several verbal and written complaints had been submitted and protests organised, but the issue remained unresolved. Copies of the letter were sent to Dhanbad deputy commissioner, BCCL CMD, senior superintendent of police, sub-divisional officer and other officials.Describing the road as a vital route used by thousands of people every day, Sinha demanded that senior BCCL officials visit the site, review the work and deploy adequate manpower and resources to complete the repairs at the earliest.He warned that if the work did not gain pace within three days, he would launch another agitation in public interest. “The protest could be intensified and may include opposition to BCCL’s coal transportation system,” he said.Sinha warned that coal-laden vehicles would be stopped if repair work did not begin in earnest, holding BCCL responsible for any resulting situation or financial loss. “Coal transportation cannot continue smoothly by putting the people of Dhanbad to hardship. Public convenience and safety must come first,” he said.
