Jammu, Oct 02: Jammu, Oct 2: Minister Satish Sharma on Friday visited the Chhamb Assembly constituency and laid foundation stones for and inaugurated development works worth Rs 13 crore.
During the visit, Sharma covered Akhnoor, Barui Sangani, Kandi, Balla, Maira-Sather and Payain, interacting with residents and reviewing local developmental issues.
At Akhnoor, Satish Sharma laid the foundation stone for construction of the Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Building. The new infrastructure is aimed at strengthening the field-level administrative setup of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department and facilitating better delivery of services to the public.
The Minister subsequently visited Bandi Mohalla, Barui Sangani, where he laid the foundation stone for construction of a road. The project is expected to improve local connectivity and provide easier access to the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said that quality road infrastructure is critical for socio-economic development and plays an important role in improving access to education, healthcare, markets and other essential services.
He directed the concerned executing agencies to ensure adherence to prescribed quality standards and timely completion of ongoing works.
The Minister stressed that public utility projects should be executed with due regard to quality, sustainability and the requirements of the local population.
During the visit, Sharma interacted with local residents, public representatives and officers and received feedback regarding roads, water supply, civic amenities and other developmental issues.
He directed the concerned departments to maintain close coordination and regularly monitor the progress of works to ensure their timely completion and quality execution.
“Development works must translate into visible improvement in the lives of people. Every project undertaken with public funds should be completed within the stipulated timeframe and maintained properly so that people derive sustained benefits,” the Minister said.
Satish Sharma called upon the officers and executing agencies to remain responsive to public concerns and undertake regular field visits to identify and resolve bottlenecks affecting development works.
The Minister also emphasised the need for effective inter-departmental coordination, stating that departments should work in a concerted manner to accelerate development and improve delivery of public services.
The visit covered a range of development interventions including administrative infrastructure, roads, link roads, lanes, culverts, road blacktopping and PHE works, reflecting the focus on strengthening basic infrastructure and connectivity across the Chhamb Assembly Constituency.
