Shivamogga: A student from Dyavanakere village in Shivamogga district cleared the 2026 SSLC examination, despite losing his father on the day of a key paper.Pritam, who faced the tragedy hours before the Mathematics exam on March 28, passed it with a second class, securing 312 marks.Education officials said the student initially decided not to appear for the exam following his father’s death. The matter was brought to the attention of the block education officer (BEO) Ramesh, who intervened and persuaded him to write the paper.“Your education is the greatest tribute you can give him today,” Ramesh told the student.Pritam then went on to take the examination at the Ayanur centre on the outskirts of Shivamogga city. After the results were announced on Thursday afternoon, Ramesh and school headmaster N Gopa visited the student’s residence to mark the achievement. Pritam, however, was staying at his grandmother’s village at the time.Speaking to TOI, Ramesh said the support would not stop with the SSLC result. “As per the student’s aspiration, I will extend help for him to join the commerce stream in pre-university (PU) and will continue to assist him through his undergraduate studies,” he said. The student was not available for comment.
