New Delhi: Police have registered an FIR against AAP’s Delhi Cantonment MLA Virender Singh Kadian after a woman who sells flowers told police that the legislator, his son and three of their associates kicked and molested her, beat up her husband and threatened them after they asked for payment for a bouquet they had sold to them.TOI reached out to Kadian for his statement, but no response came from his side.The FIR at Delhi Cantonment police station says the dispute began on July 18 after a bouquet was prepared in the MLA’s name at the flower shop the woman runs with her family. The survivor alleged that a man, who name was Niranjan, collected the bouquet but refused to pay. After this, a Delhi Cantonment Board vehicle seized all the shop’s merchandise. When the family later approached the MLA’s office in Delhi Cantonment, they were allegedly assaulted when they tried to record the meeting on a phone.The complainant alleged that Ankit Kadian, the MLA’s son, punched her husband in the eye, which started bleeding.She said she was holding her two-year-old child during the altercation. Someone snatched the child from her arms and threw the child to the ground.The FIR says that she alleged being molested, slapped and kicked in the lower abdomen. Her modesty was outraged, the complaint says.She also claimed that Kadian and associates allegedly threatened to lock the family up in the basement and repeatedly issued death threats. They somehow managed to flee, the woman said.A case has been registered under sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force on woman to outrage her modesty), 79 (word, gesture or act to insult modesty of a woman), 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 3(5)(common intention) of BNS.
