New Delhi: Three days after a 37-year-old property dealer was shot dead outside his residence in outer Delhi’s Kanjhawala, Delhi Police have arrested two accused linked to Tillu Tajpuria gang following an encounter. The accused were in touch with a US-based Tillu gang handler through encrypted apps cops said.The accused, identified as Vicky alias Rahul Ranga (27), a resident of Ghaziabad, and Vishal alias Sahil (26), a resident of Karala, allegedly opened fire at a police team that intercepted them near UER-II Road based on specific intelligence. Police retaliated, injuring both accused in their legs before overpowering them.According to police, the duo was involved in the July 30 murder of Harish Mathur, the 37-year-old property dealer. Police had earlier said they were probing the murder from the angle of an ongoing gang rivalry.An FIR was registered at Kanjhawala police station following the killing.Police said two illegal pistols, six live cartridges, six empty cartridge cases and a Hero Deluxe motorcycle were recovered from the accused. During preliminary investigation, the motorcycle was allegedly found to be the same vehicle used in the murder of Mathur.Investigators said Harish Mathur was targeted because of his association with the rival Gogi and Dinesh Karala gangs. DCP (Rohini) Shashank Jaiswal said, “The accused were receiving instructions through encrypted communication applications from a US-based handler associated with Tillu Tajpuriya gang. The handlers had arranged for weapons and money by leaving them at a designated abandoned location on the Kharkhoda-Rohtak Road for collection.”The investigation further revealed that the accused had allegedly conducted reconnaissance of five to six members of the rival Gogi gang and were planning additional targeted killings. Police said their arrest has prevented further inter-gang violence.
