NEW DELHI: A demand in jest to be called “Papa” ended in bloodshed in west Delhi’s Naraina Village Saturday night, leaving an 18-year-old boy dead after he was stabbed during a heated argument.The boy, Sumit Giri, was returning home around 9.30pm when he and his friend, Aman Singh, met two acquaintances, Aman and Narsingh, on a motorcycle. The encounter turned tense after Singh jokingly demanded that Narsingh address him as “Papa”.In response, Aman pulled out a knife and threatened Singh. When Giri stepped in to object, a heated argument broke out. A mutual friend, Sargam, arrived and tried to intervene and break up the fight. However, the argument only escalated. Aman then allegedly stabbed Giri, lightly injuring Sargam also in the process. Following the attack, Aman called his younger brother to the scene. The brother also allegedly kicked and assaulted the wounded Giri as he lay bleeding.Meanwhile, Singh informed Giri’s family about the incident and his parents rushed to the spot. His father and friends then took an unconscious Giri to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.Police have registered a murder case at Naraina police station based on eyewitness testimony from Singh.Police said all individuals involved in the incident are residents of Naraina village and were known to each other. Officers are currently examining the sequence of events .
