NEW DELHI: A woman constable of the Delhi Police Metro Unit saved the life of a 16-year-old girl who allegedly attempted to jump onto the metro tracks at Hauz Khas Metro Station, an official said on Monday.The incident occurred on August 22 when Constable Nikita, who was on patrol duty at the station, noticed the teenager moving towards the tracks with an apparent intention to end her life, the official said.Acting swiftly, Nikita intervened and restrained the girl despite her repeatedly trying to move towards the tracks, police said.With the help of other staff members, the girl was escorted to the Yellow Line Station Control Room, where she shared details that enabled police to contact her father.Her father later arrived at the station control room, and the girl, a resident of Sector 5 in R K Puram, was identified.During the inquiry, police learnt that the minor had been undergoing treatment for a mental health-related condition at RML Hospital for nearly a year and had previously attempted to harm herself.After the necessary formalities were completed, the girl was safely handed over to her father, police added.(With Agency Inputs)
