Hassan: To ease chronic traffic congestion in Sakleshpur, deputy commissioner KS Latha Kumari has ordered a series of measures, including the construction of a traffic island at Tejaswi Circle, a key junction connecting major roads in the region.The officer also urged the authorities concerned to construct a traffic circle near Tejaswi Theatre.During a surprise visit to Sakleshpur, the IAS officer inspected Tejaswi Circle, the congested Belur-Sakleshpur and Sakleshpur-Hassan road stretch, Subhash Maidan, the playground, and the half-built mini bus stand at the old bus stand. She directed officials to take up development works for smooth and safe traffic movement.The DC said a big traffic island will be constructed and developed at Tejaswi Circle to ease traffic congestion. She instructed officials to conduct a survey and identify the required land within a week.She also directed officials to identify land acquired in the 1980s for the 80-foot ring road from Mallali four-lane bypass to Tejaswi Circle and NH-75, and to verify documents. An approach road to connect Belur highway will also be taken up soon.The DC ordered the municipality to immediately clear the huge garbage dump at Subhash ground. She expressed concern over health hazards as houses and garages are located around the ground.She also visited the playground and said the Youth Services and Sports department would take up development works in consultation with local players.She pulled up municipal officials for leaving the old bus stand building incomplete for 10 years and directed them to complete the pending work and allot shops as per rules. She also inspected the pending mini bus stand work.
