Hassan: From now on, the heads of the govt offices and private institutions within the urban local jurisdiction in the district, will be held responsible if any stray dogs are found inhabiting the premises.DC KS Latha Kumari directed the heads of the institutions to mandatorily provide information about stray dogs to local authorities. It is the responsibility of the office heads to ensure stray dogs do not inhabit their premises, the DC directed at a progress review meeting.

The DC discussed various projects being undertaken within the jurisdiction of all urban local bodies in Hassan district. She emphasised the need to plant more trees along city roads within the jurisdiction of municipal corporations, city councils, and town panchayats to create a better environment by fostering a green city.Under the theme ‘Green Hassan’, all local bodies, govt offices, and govt lands should plant more trees. She also instructed officials to plant over 5,000 trees within the municipal corporation’s jurisdiction and over 2,000 trees within city and town council areas.Roads and footpaths should be cleared to facilitate public movement, and action should be taken against those disposing of waste on roadsides at night to prioritise a clean city, she added.Public awareness regarding waste disposal should be increased, and care should be taken to prevent contamination of drinking water. The DC urged officials to ensure that hotels, bars, and restaurants place waste bins in front of their establishments and ensure littering in the vicinity is avoided.Rudramuni, the project director of the district urban development cell, Krishnamurthy, commissioner of the municipal corporation, and all taluk chief officers were present at the meeting.
