Varanasi: Two former staff members of an Amul store raided it in the Chowk area under the same police station on Monday morning and fled after looting Rs 6 lakh in cash and other articles.However, within a few hours, both were arrested in Chowk, while Rs 2 lakh of looted cash, a cheque book and other documents were recovered from them, said ADCP, Kashi zone, T Sarvanan. He stated that further investigation into this matter is continuing. The arrested persons were identified as Rishi Patel and Saksham. During the initial investigation it came to light that around 4.45 am two masked miscreants raided a franchise store of Amul near the Manikarnika Ghat gate under the Chowk police station. They terrorised the store owner at gunpoint and collected cash kept in the cashbox and the shop’s safe. After that, they took the route of Ghughrani Gali to escape.The store owner tried to chase the duo, but they managed to escape. The owner alerted the police and also clarified that he identified the looters. One of them was Rishi, who worked at his store for a long time. However, due to his habit of stealing money and doubtful activities, he was ousted from the job by the owner. Despite losing the job, Patel continued coming to the shop for reconnaissance and also kept enquiring about the changes made inside the shop. Further probe continued to determine where the unrecovered looted amount was kept by them. tnn
