Nagpur: Fraudsters impersonating officers from the office of Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) chief digitally arrested a 50-year-old naturopathy expert from Nagpur’s Besa Beltarodi, siphoning off Rs13 lakhs from her accounts.On March 22, an unknown man called the woman and claimed her mobile phone number was tied to a Pakistan-linked terrorism outfit. The caller told the woman that she has been digitally arrested and is under 90-day remand in ATS custody.On the next day, the fraudsters demanded Rs100 test payment to a new number that they provided. After she paid the amount, the fraudsters drained her accounts, pressing for more “investigation fees”. By March 24, Rs13 lakh was withdrawn from her account.Realising something amiss, the woman confided in a friend who rushed to the cyber police station. Following her complaint, an FIR was filed in the cyber station for cheating and fake impersonation against the tricksters.
