RANCHI: A CRPF personnel died after allegedly sustaining a gunshot injury from his service rifle while on duty at a camp in Ranchi on Sunday, police said.The incident took place at the CRPF camp in Tiril under the jurisdiction of Vidhan Sabha police station.The deceased was identified as Bhuvneshwar Pal, a resident of Imliyatikar village in Palamu district. According to police, Pal suffered a gunshot wound to the neck, resulting in severe blood loss. He died on the spot.Vidhan Sabha police station in-charge Dinesh Thakur said police were investigating whether Pal had shot himself intentionally or whether the weapon discharged accidentally.“We are investigating if it was a suicide or he shot himself accidentally,” Thakur said.Police said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway.
