Berhampur: A 44-year-old CRPF jawan died after allegedly consuming poison at his residence in Baliguda on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Ashok Kumar Behera, working in New Delhi. He came home recently.Sources said the deceased locked himself in the house, where he was living alone. When he failed to respond to repeated phone calls from his relatives and friends, they informed police. He was rescued from the room and rushed to the sub-divisional hospital, Baliguda, where the doctors declared him dead.Police suspected he might have ended his life due to mental depression after a family dispute. His wife lodged a case against him in Baliguda, alleging he tortured her on June 29. His wife, along with her two children, was living separately. “The exact cause of his death will be known only after getting the autopsy report. We are also investigating the cause of his suicide,” said Sameer Kumar Behera, IIC, Baliguda police station.
