Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday termed the creation of Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) as one of the most historic and far-reaching reforms undertaken by his govt.Speaking at the inauguration of a new conference hall at APSSB office here, Khandu said the board was established to ensure transparent, merit-based and equitable recruitment to Group C and D posts, replacing the earlier decentralised system managed by individual departments.He said the reform was conceived after he assumed office in 2016 and institutionalised through legislation under Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board Act, 2018, rather than through a temporary executive order.“I still believe that the reform we brought into the recruitment system is historic in itself. Perhaps we do not realise its significance fully today, but in the years to come, we will understand it much better,” Khandu said.Since conducting its first examination in 2019, the ISO-certified board has held 38 examinations and recommended 5,836 candidates for various posts, he said. The 39th exam, Common Higher Secondary Level Examination 2026, is currently under way.
