Kanpur: The district administration in Etawah carried out a major crackdown against illegal mining, overloading and vehicles plying without number plates, setting up blockades on the highway and the expressway and seizing 32 dumpers and trucks. Under the direction of the DM and SSP, the task force also collected a compounding fee of Rs 5.18 lakh.The administration launched a joint campaign to curb illegal mining and overloading, with teams from the police, revenue and transport departments conducting intensive checking in potential mining areas. Blockades were set up on highways and major routes to inspect vehicles, creating panic among those involved in illegal transportation.During the campaign, 32 overloaded dumpers and trucks laden with sand and gravel were caught. During inspection, many vehicles were found without valid permits and necessary documents, while some were found plying without number plates. All vehicles violating the rules were seized on the spot.The officials targeted vehicles that were damaging roads by carrying loads beyond their capacity. Action was taken against vehicles transporting minerals without permits and documents, and a fine of Rs 5,18,000 was collected for violation of traffic rules and transport standards.As soon as checking began on the Bundelkhand Expressway and Agra-Kanpur Highway, several vehicle drivers abandoned their vehicles and fled from the spot. Continuous operations were carried out in the Bharthana, Ekdil and Jaswantnagar areas in the presence of police and officials, creating an atmosphere of fear among those involved in illegal activities.The operation was led by ASP Shrish Chandra, accompanied by CO Bharthana Ramdaban Maurya, ARTO Pradeep Deshmani, Yatrikar officer Vivek Kumar Singh and mining officer Brij Bihari. Local police station staff also remained active during the campaign.In a separate action near the roundabout under the Bundelkhand Expressway, 11 overloaded dumpers and trucks were caught. The vehicles were seized and parked at Bharthana police station. Teams from the transport, mining and GST departments carried out inspections and initiated summon fee proceedings.SSP Brijesh Kumar Srivastava clearly stated that this campaign against illegal mining and overloading will continue unabated.
