Patna: The Patna high court has sought the central govt’s reply on a writ petition challenging the appointment of Sanjay Shrivastava as vice-chancellor (VC) of Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU), Motihari.A single bench of justice Ajit Kumar passed the order on Thursday on a petition filed by Sandeep Pahal.Petitioner’s counsel Rakesh Kumar Sharma submitted that Shrivastava’s appointment violated UGC regulations requiring 10 years’ experience as a professor. He alleged Shrivastava was appointed professor at Benaras Hindu University on Oct 5, 2012, but applied for the VC’s post in June 2022, before completing 10 years.Justice Kumar also issued notice to Shrivastava. The matter will be heard on Nov 15.
