Jaipur: An Additional Sessions Court Thursday set aside the conviction of nine individuals, including sitting MLAs, including Mukesh Bhakar from Ladnun and Manish Yadav from Shahpura, in a 12-year-old case linked to a student protest at Rajasthan University. The court overturned a lower court order dated June 17, 2025, which sentenced them to one year in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 3,200 each. All the accused challenged the verdict, contending that the trial court relied on facts beyond the case record and that the case was politically motivated. Accepting their appeal, the sessions court acquitted all nine accused. The case dates back to Aug 13, 2014, when Gandhi Nagar police registered an FIR alleging that NSUI supporters blocked JLN Marg during a protest, disrupting traffic for nearly 20 minutes before authorities cleared the road.
