Imphal: The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), a Kuki-Zo organisation, imposed an indefinite shutdown along National Highway-2 and National Highway-37 from 4pm Sunday. The protest was in response to ongoing violence and alleged failure to ensure justice and security for affected communities.CoTU, in a statement, alleged partisan and selective security operations in the Leimakhong-Kangchup area amid escalating tensions involving the Kuki and Naga communities. It also alleged recent actions by security agencies failed to ensure equal protection and impartial enforcement of law and order, creating a perception of bias among affected communities. The organisation, while referring to the recent killing of three Christian pastors and 12 Kuki villagers, said the deaths, along with reports of attacks on villages, destruction of homes, and displacement of civilians, generated fear, grief and anger.CoTU also urged the ministry of home affairs to intervene immediately.
