Hyderabad: Former minister T Harish Rao criticised the Congress govt for turning corporations into political rehabilitation centres instead of institutions meant for welfare and development. He said CM Revanth Reddy is more interested in distributing corporation posts than releasing funds for the welfare of weaker sections and traditional communities. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress govt has completely weakened corporations by not allocating funds or assigning meaningful responsibilities.Reacting to the appointment of chairpersons for 17 corporations on Wednesday, Harish Rao said it was meaningless to appoint chairpersons without providing funds. He said the govt was neglecting even the existing 33 corporations and has now expanded appointments only to satisfy political followers. He pointed out that chairpersons appointed in the first phase could not help even a single beneficiary because funds were never released during their tenure.Harish Rao said the Congress govt failed to release even one rupee to 21 out of the 33 corporations, defeating the very purpose for which these institutions were created. He alleged that not allocating any funds to corporations such as Mala, Madiga, Sant Sevalal, Komaram Bheem, Ekalavya and Minority Corporations clearly reflected discrimination against those communities. The deputy floor leader said it was shameful that the govt failed to spend even a single rupee from the funds allocated to Mudiraj, Yadava, Munnuru Kapu, Kummari, Vishwabrahmin, Medara, Valmiki, Boya and several other corporations.Harish Rao revealed that although a total allocation of 14,521 crore was made for 33 corporations, the govt released only 3,198 crore and spent just 305 crore. He said the BRS raised the same issue in the Assembly, but the govt failed to give a proper reply.
