Daltonganj: Timely police intervention saved a govt officer, currently under suspension, from an enraged crowd during a Shiv Baraat procession in Latehar district on Sunday. According to police, he along with two others were in an SUV when it hit another car while the procession was passing by turning the crowd violent, said Manika police station in-charge Prabhat Kumar Das. The officer was identified as Pramod Kumar. Prior to his suspension, he was posted as the circle officer in Majhiaon in Garhwa district, said the SP. Sources said that the officer was at the wheel, along with a sick woman, and on way to Chandwa from Garhwa. “As no one came forward to complain, we allowed him to go as he was travelling with a sick woman,” said Das.
