Ranchi: The path has been cleared for five floating restaurants to be set up across three dams in the state, after the Jharkhand high court on Monday dismissed a petition challenging the tender process for these projects. The state tourism department had floated the tender on Nov 28, 2025, for the operation of two floating restaurants each in Ramgarh’s Patratu and Ranchi’s Dhurwa dams, and one in Getalsud dam. A division bench comprising Chief Justice M S Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar was hearing a petition contesting the govt tender for the project. A Varanasi-based firm, Das and Kumars Company, emerged as the successful bidder. The govt had set a deadline of May 2026 for the restaurants to become operational. However, Shiromani Industries Private Limited, another participant in the bidding process, challenged the tender in the HC. The company alleged technical flaws in the process and argued that the contract should not be awarded to Das and Kumars Company. After hearing the matter, the HC found no merit in the petition and dismissed it, effectively allowing the government to proceed with the project.
