Kolkata: In its 10th year, Shakespeare Sarani Sarbojanin Durga Puja, which is organised entirely by Kolkata Police personnel, will step into a new chapter. What started in 2016 as a modest community effort opposite the station has evolved into a bridge between cops and locals. And this year, the organisers have introduced two landmark changes — an artistic theme and a structured time slot for Ashtami anjali.Titled ‘The Creation of Mother Durga’, the theme design will depict the mythological emergence of Mahishasuramardini from the collective energies of Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwar.The decision to introduce designated prayer timings is a response to accommodate the growing participation from the neighbourhood, populated largely by business professionals and industrialists. The designated schedule will ensure that hundreds of devotees — including local residents, hospital staff from nearby medical centers, and police families — can offer prayers without congestion.At the centre of the rituals at the pandal will be the officer-in-charge of Shakespeare Sarani Police Station, Ayan Chakraborty.
