Mapusa: Mapusa police have registered a first information report (FIR) against a contractor and a site engineer following the collapse of an under-construction gallery projection that injured six labourers on July 19.The accused have been identified as contractor Avub Inamdar, a resident of Pune, and site engineer Gunjesh Naik from Valpoi.According to the police complaint filed by head constable Vijay Gadekar, the duo exhibited gross negligence by failing to implement adequate safety measures and discharge their duty of care at the site, triggering the structural failure.Six workers — Durgesh Parasa, Mohammad Ali, Habibur Rehman, Nasim Ali, Binod Prasad, and Mohammad Khan — were injured in the incident.

Five of the injured received treatment at GMC and have been discharged.Mohammad Khan is still undergoing treatment.Police have booked the contractor and site engineer under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. PSI Bablo Parab is leading the ongoing investigation into the incident.
