Nagpur: District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Nagpur), directed a stock exchange-listed bank to refund 1.41 lakh fraudulently debited from a customer’s credit card, along with 9% interest, 20,000 compensation and 10,000 towards litigation costs. The order was passed on Tuesday on a complaint filed by Rana Pratap Nagar resident Amol Kandge against the bank’s Swavalambi Nagar branch. Kandge was represented by advocate Mahendra Limaye, while Vandan Gadkari appeared for the bank.According to the complaint, Kandge received a call on Jul 9, 2021, from a person claiming to represent the bank, who told him his accumulated reward points would lapse the same day. Kandge then filled in details on a link sent to him, following which transactions worth about 1.91 lakh were carried out on his credit card over two days. The bank reversed 68,995 but did not refund 1.41 lakh, prompting him to approach the commission. The bank was directed to comply within 45 days of the order.
