Mysuru: State information commissioner K Harishkumar Thursday said the Constitution ensured equal rights and opportunities for all citizens, but was now facing a threat from “fascist forces”. He was speaking after inaugurating Dr BR Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanthi celebrations, organised by the BCM Hostel Students’ Alumni Association, at Vignan Bhavan in Manasagangothri. Harishkumar recalled the contributions of Ambedkar and Jagjivan Ram, noting that they worked towards building a discrimination-free society and the empowerment of vulnerable sections. Thinker Vikas R Mourya also remembered their role in eliminating the caste system and establishing equality in the country. Senior KAS officer P Shivaraju urged citizens to work together beyond caste and religious identities to build an equal, progressive and discrimination-free society. University of Mysore Syndicate member Mahesh Sosale was present.
