Chikkamagaluru: Koppa in Chikkamagaluru district will host ‘Sarva Samajotsava’ on May 3, organised by the Malnad-Karavali Janapara Okkoota to unite people from the Malnad and coastal regions. Thousands from various political parties, religions, and organisations are expected to participate, including attendees from Sringeri, Narasimharajapura, Koppa, Thirthahalli, Chikkamagaluru, Mudigere, and Shivamogga. The event will feature a procession through Koppa town to promote a message of oneness. Sudhir Kumar Murolli, the Okkoota coordinator, emphasised the goal of fostering unity and coexistence while highlighting poet-laureate Kuvempu’s vision of ‘Sarvajanangada Shanthiya Thota’ — a peaceful garden for all religions. Murolli stated, “We cannot grow through fights, hatred, and violence. India must not be built on religious conflicts for political gain.” He stressed the importance of preserving unity amid India’s rich diversity and noted that about 10 resolutions to address key issues in the Malnad region would be passed during the event. Anil Hosakoppa of the Okkoota echoed these sentiments, expressing concern over the rising mindset of hatred and division and highlighting that Sarva Samajotsava aims to cultivate a spirit of unity among people.
