Lucknow: A 30-year-old police constable allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself from a window inside his rented room in Ambedkar Nagar’s Akbarpur Kotwali area on Friday morning.His colleagues knocked on the door around 5.30am, but despite repeated knocks, he did not respond. His colleagues then alerted senior officers and when the door was broken open, the constable was found hanging. No suicide note was found.Police said the constable, who worked as a mess clerk, had returned to duty on Thursday after a two-day visit. His family rushed to the spot after being informed.Additional SP Tejveer Singh consoled the grieving family and assured them of police support. “No departmental pressure or work-related stress has come to light so far. His mobile phone is being examined to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death,” he said.
