Patna: A 40-year-old police constable died after being electrocuted while trying to drain accumulated water from his house in Maharath village under Kashchak police station area of Nawada district on Friday morning.The deceased, Mohan Kumar, was posted in Araria district. He had recently completed a Police Training Centre (PTC) course in Dumraon and had come home on leave during Rakshabandhan. He was scheduled to return to duty on Friday evening.According to his family, water had accumulated inside the house and Mohan was using an electric motor to drain it when an electrical board fell into the water, electrifying nearby equipment.Nawada SP Abhinav Dhiman said, “Mohan came into contact with the live equipment and suffered a severe electric shock. Family members immediately tried to rescue him, but he became unconscious and collapsed.”His wife and son also suffered minor electric burns while trying to rescue him. The family rushed Mohan to hospitals in Nawada and Bihar Sharif before taking him to Biharsharif Model Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Mohan is survived by his wife and four children. According to available information, the family later took the body back to the village without completing formal legal procedures.
