Patna: The state Congress on Tuesday decided to launch a mass outreach programme to mobilise people from the Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) and ensure adequate representation for them in the party’s organisational structure.In this regard, state Congress president Rajesh Ram, AICC general secretary and Bihar in charge Krishna Allavaru, and former Congress Legislature Party leader in the state assembly Shakeel Ahmad Khan, along with other functionaries, held a detailed discussion at the party’s state headquarters.Ram said the party would soon launch a mass outreach programme to engage with EBC communities. “The aim is to identify and nurture leaders from among them. They will be given representation in the party in proportion to their population,” he said.Allavaru said all sections of society, including EBC groups, have the right to equality, social honour and dignity, which has been the party’s credo. Khan said unlike the BJP, the Congress believes in social unity and equality.
