Thiruvananthapuram: Congress MLA Ramya Haridas on Wednesday appeared before the KPCC-appointed inquiry committee in connection with the controversy over the clash in Chirayinkeezhu.Haridas reached the KPCC office to meet former KPCC president M M Hassan, who is heading the committee investigating the incident. But she declined to respond to questions from the media.Earlier in the day, Haridas reached her constituency office in Chirayinkeezhu, where party workers received her. She had earlier said that she would appear before the KPCC inquiry panel after attending the assembly committee proceedings. However, she refused to make further comments.Tensions escalated when supporters of the MLA confronted media personnel, alleging that false reports were being circulated over the controversy.Haridas softened her stand on appointing Palayam Pradeep, who was suspended by Congress, to her personal staff after KPCC brass expressed strong displeasure.Pradeep was not present with the MLA when she arrived at the constituency office on Wednesday. Congress local brass had earlier warned that Pradeep wouldn’t be allowed to enter the constituency.The controversy over his proposed appointment had triggered sharp differences within the party, prompting KPCC to initiate an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the Chirayinkeezhu incident. Haridas hadn’t attended the earlier sitting of the KPCC inquiry committee, claiming that she was in Delhi. However, it was later found that she had attended a function in Palakkad the same day.
