Hyderabad: The Congress steadfastly supported Jeevan Reddy throughout his political career, giving him the party ticket to contest elections 14 times, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) chief Mahesh Kumar Goud said on Thursday. He emphasised that voters are unlikely to attach significance to Jeevan Reddy’s criticisms of the Congress.During a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Goud asserted that Jeevan Reddy has no authority to suggest that chief minister Revanth Reddy should quit. Goud also challenged Jeevan Reddy to respond to his previous criticisms of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). “There is no difference between the BRS and BJP. Both parties may even unite in the future,” Goud said.“No one has benefited under BJP leadership. In fact, the BJP has contributed to the decline of the BRS,” the TPCC chief remarked.Regarding the allegations against minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Goud indicated that the Congress would consider looking into the claims if there was concrete evidence. “Those making accusations should come to Gandhi Bhavan with evidence,” Goud said, warning against making baseless accusations. “The Nadargul land scam occurred during the BRS’ tenure. The Congress won’t remain silent if provoked,” Goud said, adding that the public is aware of how BRS is being exploited by the BJP. “The allegations against Congress leaders are unfounded, and I urge Harish Rao to present any evidence he might have,” Goud said.No cabinet expansion soonGoud added that any decision on cabinet expansion would be taken by the chief minister, and to his knowledge, there would not be any expansion soon.
