Barnala: Senior advocate and BJP functionary HS Phoolka on Thursday alleged that Congress had killed Sikhs in Nov 1984 and that the Aam Aadmi Party and drug mafia were now “killing” Punjab’s youth by supplying ‘chitta’.Addressing a rally at Tapa Mandi on the fourth day of the BJP’s ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’, Phoolka said a long struggle was required to secure justice for victims of the 1984 riots and claimed Punjab now needed a “final battle” against drug traffickers and the AAP govt, which he alleged was protecting them.Phoolka alleged that instead of acting against drug traffickers, local police were harassing families affected by drugs at the behest of the state govt to prevent them from raising their voices against the menace.He urged people to resolve to eradicate drugs from their villages to protect their children.Former Union ministerRavneet Singh Bittu, addressing a rally in Barnala, alleged that AAP had failed to control drug abuse and was “patronising” those involved in the illegal trade.Bittu said the BJP had taken up the responsibility of making Punjab drug-free and claimed the yatra was not a political campaign. He said other political parties had also been invited to participate but AAP opposed it by showing black flags.m
