Lucknow: The state unit of the Congress launched a sharp attack on the UP govt a day after it listed its achievements to mark its ninth year in office.State chief of the party Ajay Rai alleged that govt’s claims of development over the past nine years were false. “The BJP govt’s record reflected ‘nine years of destruction’ rather than progress,” he said in the presence of senior office-bearers. “The collapse of a newly inaugurated Green Corridor in Lucknow is evidence of corruption. A section of the road of this Rs 1,519 crore project caved in the very next day it was inaugurated,” he said.He alleged that a network of usurers was operating across the state, referring to a Fatehpur family that allegedly died by suicide after repaying far more than the original loan amount. Rai also mentioned the suicide of Mohanlalganj rojgaar sevak Ramesh Prajapati over unpaid honorarium. He referred to the killing of two officials at the HPCL plant in Badaun. On agriculture, Rai said potato farmers in Agra were facing severe losses. He alleged black marketing of urea before the sowing season.Rai further accused govt of failing on law and order, citing recent incidents in Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Bareilly and Bhadohi.
