Noida: A dispute at Samridhi Luxuriya in Sector 150 has escalated into counter police complaints between the society operations manager and a resident. The manager, Indu Chaudhary, alleged that Priyanka Gupta, who lives alone with her dogs, had repeatedly harassed and threatened to have her removed from work and circulated a defamatory video on Instagram. In a counter-complaint, Gupta has accused Chaudhary of physical and mental harassment, alleging she had barged into Gupta’s home asking for sexual favours. When she declined, Chaudhary restricted her movement and access to medicines and belongings.Gupta told the cops at Knowledge Park police station that an altercation took place on Monday when Chaudhary allegedly stopped delivery agents from coming to her flat. She alleged that when her friend Sarbhi Rawat arrived, she was assaulted. When Gupta went down to rescue her friend, an unidentified man, who appeared to be drunk, along with Nikita Yadav, Chaudhary and Vaishali Ghabra, assaulted her too.She claimed that her phone was snatched, her clothes were torn with a sharp object and she was hit on the head.Police have registered an FIR against Chaudhary and the others under BNS sections 329(3) (criminal trespass and house-trespass), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).Chaudhary has made counter-allegations against Gupta, saying that she was threatening to get her removed from her job and defaming her on social media. She claimed that Gupta put up a video on Instagram on Oct 2 where she claimed Chaudhary was a “bisexual” and had asked her for sexual favours.Chaudhary also alleged that Gupta abused her and threatened to kill her on several occasions and threatened to send security guards to jail. She said the alleged actions caused her mental harassment and damaged her reputation. She sought removal of the Instagram video and legal action against Gupta. The video has been circulated across social media platforms. It shows a blurred-out face of a woman, who is believed to be Gupta, crying and complaining against Chaudhary. The woman ended the video by requesting that if she takes her own life due to this harassment, people should look after her dogs. In the last few seconds, a clip, presumably of Chaudhary yelling at a person, is shown.Based on Chaudhary’s statements, Knowledge Park police filed a case under sections 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the public peace), 351(2) (criminal intimidation) and 356 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
