Jaipur: Commercial taxes department detected tax evasion with a revenue implication of about Rs 43.26 crore during a statewide anti-evasion drive in July, uncovering more than 100 major cases over 30 trade sectors.Officials in the department said the enforcement campaign covered all 17 zones of the state, with major operations in Jaipur, Sikar, Rajsamand, Barmer, Pratapgarh, Jaisalmer and Bhiwadi.The department also identified 12 fake firms involved in fraudulent billing chains that passed on bogus Input Tax Credit (ITC) worth Rs 172.78 crore, helping prevent further revenue leakage.In one case, a GST-registered firm was found operating from a dilapidated mud hut, exposing the misuse of villagers’ PAN and Aadhaar details to create shell entities, said the official.The drive also detected 11 cases of suppressed turnover with an estimated tax implication of Rs 4.76 crore, while surveys of seven coaching institutes led to a voluntary deposit of Rs 1.40 crore, the department’s highest single cash deposit this financial year.
