Buxar: A 47-year-old trailer driver was killed in a head-on collision between two trailers on NH-922 (Patna–Buxar four-lane) near Churamanpur under the Industrial police station area in Bhojpur district on Wednesday. The impact was so severe that the driver’s body remained trapped inside the mangled cabin for nearly four hours before rescuers managed to extricate it.The front portion of one of the trailers was completely crushed in the collision. Police suspect the accident occurred after one of the drivers allegedly dozed off at the wheel. The deceased died on the spot. The mishap blocked one lane of the highway, resulting in a long queue of trucks.After receiving information, Industrial SHO Suresh Kumar reached the spot with a police team. Traffic police diverted vehicles through the other lane to ensure smooth movement. Personnel from the fire department and the four-lane highway company’s ambulance service also joined the rescue operation.Two cranes and a bulldozer were pressed into service to separate the wrecked trailers and recover the body. The rescue operation continued for around four hours.SHO Suresh Kumar identified the deceased as Bharat Yadav (47), son of Kharpatu Yadav and a resident of Umar-Rishi village under Gambhirpur police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district. The body was sent for post-mortem, and police have launched an investigation into the accident.
