COIMBATORE: Coimbatore will host the second edition of the Equestrian Champions League (ECL), a showjumping tournament, from Aug 28 to 30.The three-day event organised by Equine Sports India Federation in association with the Equestrian Federation of India was formally launched on Monday by Dr Sundar Ramakrishnan, president of the Coimbatore District Equestrian Association, along with A S Sakti Balaji, president of the Equine Sports India Federation.Season two features six regional teams: Chennai Bulls (Tamil Nadu), Pegasus Sports (Kerala), Golconda Chargers (Telangana), Bengaluru Knights (Karnataka), Quantum Reigns (Goa) and Elite Equestrians (West Bengal).Riders will compete in 100 cm, 110 cm, and 120 cm showjumping categories for a total prize purse of Rs 30 lakh. The performances will be evaluated by Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI)-approved judges from New Delhi and a course designer from Sharjah.The 6,000-capacity arena near Molapalayam features complete public amenities. Entry is free to promote equestrian sports nationwide, with spectator tickets accessible via Ticketprix.
