Erode: A truck driver died after his vehicle brushed an overhead electricity line on the Bargur–Anthiyur road near Neykkarai on Sunday morning.The deceased has been identified as K Govindaraj, of Pudupalayam near Edappadi, in Salem district. The incident took place around 8.20am, when he was driving a truck loaded with sugarcane from Karnataka to a private sugar mill near Sathyamangalam.“The truck came in contact with an overhead line, causing a surge of current through the vehicle. Govindaraj died on the spot,” said an officer from Anthiyur station. The truck was owned by Palanisamy of Edappadi.Bargur police have registered a case.
