Puri: Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday unveiled a new online donation platform for Jagannath Temple, branded as ‘Digital Hundi – Samarpan’.Rolling out the e-hundi (donation) initiative at the temple office on the eve of Rath Yatra, Majhi described it as “a secure, transparent bridge connecting devotees across India and abroad with the Lord’s shrine”.Developed by Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), the platform has been integrated with the temple’s official portal and allows devotees to contribute safely from home. “Every rupee offered through this system will go towards the temple’s development and upkeep,” Majhi told reporters.The chief minister said devotees can make offerings on occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, or in gratitude for fulfilled wishes. Contributions qualify for income tax exemptions, with funds earmarked solely for temple development .“A dedicated web portal and mobile app have been created. Devotees can log in using their mobile number and OTP, and make payments via UPI, internet banking, debit/credit cards, or even WhatsApp. Digital receipts are generated instantly,” the chief minister’s office said.According to the CMO, no minimum donation limit has been set. “From one rupee to any amount, devotees may contribute according to their capacity,” Majhi said.The mobile app doubles up as a digital companion, offering temple information, daily ritual updates, announcements, and facilities such as booking rooms at temple’s Bhakta Niwas for pilgrims visiting Puri.
