Gorakhpur: East UP is set to get its first Centre of Excellence at Maharana Pratap Institute of Technology, set up in collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services. CM Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the facility on April 15 in the presence of Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran. The launch will coincide with an attempt to create a world record by enrolling five lakh youths in a 60-day free ‘AI for All’ training programme.The initiative is being jointly organised by MPIT, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, TCS, and Mahyogi Gorakhnath University. Registrations for the programme are open till April 9. MPIT director Sudhir Agrawal said the goal is to connect five lakh youths with emerging technologies and provide them hands-on exposure. He added that a parallel ‘AI Awareness for Farmers’ workshop will train around 1,000 farmers and agriculture students free of cost. The facility is also expected to benefit 15 AICTE-approved institutions, including Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology, thereby strengthening industry-academia collaboration in the region.
