Fazilka: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday dedicated development projects worth crores in Fazilka.The chief minister arrived at the Fazilka grain market to launch infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving the district’s connectivity and basic development. He gave a new impetus to the development work in Fazilka constituency and give a new direction to the material development of the area while dedicating a large-scale project for the development of link roads, bridges and mandis by the Punjab Mandi Board. While addressing the public, Mann said 59 new bridges and link roads would be constructed in Fazilka constituency on which Rs 34 crore would be spent. Along with this, Rs 22.43 crore had been approved for widening 34 km-long link roads, which would make traffic smoother and safer, he said, adding that a large amount of money had also been released for the repair and renovation of previously constructed link roads. The visit comes during the start of the wheat procurement season. He also addressed concerns regarding a strike by the commission agents, assuring farmers that the state govt was committed to a smooth and hassle-free procurement process despite the ongoing protests over commission rates.
