KANPUR: An 11-year-old Class V student allegedly died by suicide at her house in Radhe Nagar under the Chakeri police station area of Kanpur on Saturday afternoon after locking her mother and brother inside a room.Her mother said the girl would usually chat with friends after school. When she was reminded to focus on her studies, she would get angry. On Saturday, Kajal reportedly seemed different and withdrawn after returning from school. Something was off, she said.The victim, a private school student, came home around 11 am Saturday and was playing with her siblings. Her mother said that at 1 pm, the girl locked her and her brother inside a room.She said the girl reportedly hanged herself after locking them. When her mother sensed something was wrong, she started screaming, drawing neighbours to the scene. They broke open the terrace door to get in, but it was too late.On being alerted, Chakeri police station in-charge Ajay Prakash Mishra reached the scene. He said police are investigating what led the girl to take this step.
