Kalyani: Tension erupted at the state-run College of Medicine and Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital, Kalyani, on Monday night following a clash between junior doctors and a patient’s family, leaving at least five injured. While the patient’s family alleged that they were assaulted by doctors, the latter alleged otherwise.The unrest began after a severely injured road accident victim was rushed to the hospital’s emergency unit on Monday night. Family members alleged delay in treatment despite the patient’s critical head injuries and heavy bleeding. A heated argument ensued between the doctors and the patient’s kin over the alleged treatment delay. While the patient’s family alleged assault and harassment of women family members by doctors, the hospital authority alleged that it was the patient’s family who brought in outsiders and assaulted junior doctors. A probe committee will be formed, said a hospital authority.
