Nagpur: A Telegram discussion group of the Nagpur unit of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has been removed from the messaging platform, prompting speculation over the reason behind the action. The issue came to light after several members approached TOI, stating that they were no longer able to access the group.When TOI tried to open the group, the app showed a message stating, “This group can’t be displayed because it violated Telegram’s Terms of Service.”According to sources within the CJP, the group served as an internal discussion forum for party members and volunteers and was not its official communication channel.

The platform was reportedly used to coordinate discussions and share updates among supporters, while official announcements were made through other designated channels.Senior party functionaries confirmed that the account has been frozen and they are in the process of gathering details regarding the removal. They added that an official statement on the matter is likely to be issued soon.At present, the exact reason behind the group’s disappearance remains unclear. There is no confirmation on whether the action resulted from intervention by law enforcement agencies, a complaint or mass reporting by users, or an independent enforcement decision taken by Telegram under its content moderation policies.Senior police sources told TOI that the Nagpur police have not undertaken any such action. CJP members said they are awaiting clarification before drawing any conclusions and have urged supporters not to speculate until official information is available. The party is expected to announce its next course of action after receiving more clarity on the circumstances surrounding the removal of the Telegram group.
