Vadodara: How India’s first bullet train project can transform Vadodara into a transit-led growth hub and spur economic development across central Gujarat will be the focus of a special seminar at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference on Monday.The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will organise a panel discussion titled “High-Speed Rail Corridor as a Catalyst for Economic Growth and Regional Development” at GSFC University as part of the conference.The seminar will examine how the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor can drive regional growth, integrated mobility and sustainable urban development. As one of the key stations on the corridor, Vadodara is being positioned to leverage the project for transit-oriented development, industrial expansion, innovation and investment.The event will begin with an inaugural session, followed by the signing of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with universities.Two panel discussions will bring together international experts in infrastructure finance, urban planning, economics, railways and placemaking to share insights on maximising the project’s impact.Discussions will cover global best practices from Japan and other high-speed rail corridors, land value capture mechanisms, public-private partnership (PPP) models for station-area development, floor space index (FSI) norms and multimodal integration.Experts will also deliberate on employment generation, strategies for equitable growth and heritage-sensitive planning for Vadodara’s station influence zone.
