Kanpur: Kanpur Nagar received around 64.4 mm of rainfall on Wednesday, bringing down the temperature and providing much-needed relief to residents from the sultry weather conditions. Widespread rain began early Wednesday morning and soon intensified into moderate to heavy showers that continued for nearly three hours. The rain was followed by light drizzle, which continued until around 10.30 am.The showers brought a noticeable change in the weather, with the maximum temperature recorded at 28.8 degrees Celsius, 0.2 degrees lower than Tuesday. The minimum temperature also dropped to 24.4 degrees Celsius following the rain received on Tuesday evening.According to the CSA weather observatory, the maximum and minimum relative humidity were recorded at 98% and 95%, respectively. Despite high humidity, residents did not experience pronounced sultry conditions as the maximum temperature remained around 4.5 degrees Celsius below normal.South-westerly winds blowing at a speed of 8.9 kmph also provided relief.Weather expert at CSA University, SN Sunil Pandey, said that according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast, the presence of atmospheric moisture and increased moisture influx due to developing weather systems are likely to keep skies cloudy in the Kanpur division on August 6 and 7.He said intermittent strong winds and scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds, thunderstorms and lightning are likely at isolated places during this period. Strong surface winds may also prevail over the coming days, while intermittent sunshine is also possible.Pandey said these weather conditions are likely to result in increased humidity despite the relatively lower temperatures. Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds across all districts of the Kanpur division during the next 24 hours. .
