Varanasi: Mau police have arrested a woman and her lover’s aide for allegedly conspiring to murder a 35-year-old man with whom she was allegedly in a relationship, officials said.However, the main accused identified as Akash Rao (24), remains absconding.Police said that the accused woman, identified as Shehzadi alias Ghughni (38) had been living separately from her husband for the past two and half years.During this period, she allegedly developed a relationship with the victim, Asgar Ali, and later began living with him.However, disputes arose after she allegedly started a relationship with Akash Rao (24), a resident of the same locality.According to police, Asgar objected to her relationship with Akash and had allegedly assaulted her on several occasions. To get rid of him, the woman allegedly conspired with Akash to murder Asgar.Investigators said the woman had rented accommodation at Sultanpur Kashiram Awas, where she and Asgar were living together.In the early hours of Aug 3, she allegedly called Akash and his friend, Suraj Rajbhar (22), to execute the plan.Police said that when Asgar woke up and saw the two men, one of them restrained him while Akash allegedly stabbed him in the chest with a knife, killing him on the spot.Additional superintendent of police Anoop Kumar said that, based on CCTV footage and electronic evidence, police arrested the woman and Akash’s aide, Suraj Rajbhar, on Tuesday.The two accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody, while efforts are underway to arrest the main accused, police said.
